Then her hair, the trident she clutches to her chest like a child clutches a pillow in the dark, the name a rusty mangled version of his own.
And when he caresses her right eyelid shut with his gloved thumb and whispers, "Relax, my sweet one, be quiet," her shoulders slouch and she almost, almost doesn't see the silver glint of the knife.
