Okay, well even though I don't want kids, nor do I want to get married, this whole thing pisses me off even.
Why oh WHY does a woman HAVE to have a husband in order to have a planned kid else she'll get thrown in prison, but can run off and get pregnant at 16 and ruin your life at an unplanned pregnacy with no hassel?
I'm sorry, but this doens't make any sense what so ever! Or am I missing something? *mind boggles*

Unless the Howard Government dismantles the Sex Discrimination Act, I think this would be impossible to introduce in Australia.
Victorian law restricting access to assisted reproduction to married people was overruled by the High Court on the grounds that the Commonwealth Sex Discrimination Act bars discrimination on the basis of marital status.
For the non-Australians reading, where a state and Commonwealth law are inconsistent, the Commonwealth law prevails to the extent of the inconsistency.
Sadly I can see people thinking we don't need the SDA anymore, without making the link to their own lives, and giving Howard a free run to get rid of it. I'll shut up here before I really start ranting :)
