Bob Leckie called his time in Australia "The Great Debauchery".

Yes, 'Band of Brothers' is superlative! One of the episodes is actually partly about my mother's husband at the time, who was a lieutenant in the 101st Airborne, and who was killed in action in Hagenau, France, in 1944. In the series, the character is called by a different name, but the episode is definitely based on the circumstances surrounding Mom's Army husband's death. Watch for the episode that introduces a replacement lieutenant fresh out of West Point. Having the story of this man's death told to me all my young life, it was astonishing to see it dramatized on television! If only my mother could have lived to see it. She would have been extremely gratified, I'm sure...
