Wake Up
Today was going to end with one of two things;
Gold was going to kill Red, or Red was going to kill him. A or B.
The challenge had been issued through Green, he was sure Red would accept. Absolutely sure. Location wise might have been subconscious, but Gold had picked the exact opposite place as their first battle. The desert, the bottom of a rather large canyon by island standards. This time, Gold had waited.
The battle didn't last as long as it felt like it did.
Despite getting the first hit, Skarmory got one-shotted by Pikachu without much issue.
Blissey took out the electric-rat and Blastoise skull bashed the egg-kangaroo out of commission.
Rain Dance cooled the place off, a bit, and Ampharos took out Blastoise with a Thunder strike that the whole island must have seen. This is when Gold started laughing.
Ampharos's Signal beam hurt Espeon pretty bad, but a well timed counter using Psychic tossed the electric type into the cliff side.
Feraligatr's Hydro Cannon took out Espeon, and Venasaur turned the heat back on with Sunny Day before Solar Beaming Feraligatr to hell and back.
Meganium and Venasaur started collapsing the canyon in on itself with an Earthquake fight, Venasaur refreshing the Sunny Day before getting half a mountain collapsed on him. Red returned his starter.
Which left Charizard. Who instantly blew away Meganium with a Fire Blast that left both Gold's and Red's ears ringing. It flew down to attack Gold himself but Typhlosion's Protect stopped the Champion getting maimed while recovering from his shell shock.
This part took a while. Typhlosion's used up all eight of his Eruptions, Charizard managing to deflect a good four of them using Fire Blast, dodge two, and get terribly burned by the others. Charizard's Fly was easily blocked using Protect, while Typhlosion's Solar Beam was entirely worthless against the dragon.
In the end, Typhlosion shredded one of its wings with Return-- the fight going from an epic battle that collapsed a canyon, heated the entire island up a good five degrees, and left an ominous smoke cloud billowing out of Azimuth-- to a scrap in the dirt between a tired ferret and grounded dragon.
And with only the smallest sliver of health left, Typhlosion collapsed the larger fire-type. Red running through the lingering smoke and dirt filled air to comfort his poor, beloved Charizard.
So that was it. He'd won. Gold coughed, wiping soot from his face before laughing out his last order.]
T-Take him out, Typhlosion!
[The fire type had never hesitated in following it's master's orders before, Gold yelled again]
Finish it!
[And Typhlosion simply sighed and curled up in the dirt, entirely done with this whole mess. Gold's expression hardening into some crazed hurt. He returned his starter--
He'd just have to do it himself! Kill or be Killed!
Now, Gold hadn't expected that when he swung the bat at Red, Red would simply catch it. He expected even less that Red would pull it out of his hands and swiftly knocking him the face with the end of it. In the eye, too. It hurt like a bitch.
So there was Gold, victorious as always, but knocked on his ass. Red looming over him with the bat Gold was going to try and kill the former Champ with.
Guess the answer was B, after all. But Red doesn't do a thing. He just stares at Gold, and Gold can't think why, but it makes him feel strangely impatient]
Do it, Red--! [Silence. Red returns Charizard, then simply throws the bat back to Gold, it landing in his lap.
"... just stay down, kid."
-- is all he says before turning and walking away, leaving Gold in the burnt remains of what would likely be their last match.]
