And to a certain some of you...yes, 'flaming' jabs ARE too easy

[Aaaaaaaaaand good morning, Island. It's been a while since Maxie has really been both out in the open and...um, conscious enough to register all of you.

Right. Well. Moving onToday has been a fairly good one for Maxie, actually, as he seems to have decided to abandon his usual researching - and you can all shut right up about that, Wikipedia is a ( Read more... )

[[Maxie, Maxie...you of all people should know that 'flaming' jabs are never too easy.]]

And here was me thinking you couldn't get any more flaming, Maxie.

[Oh? Well, he'll try not to overestimate your mental capacities again, sorry about that.]

Mm. Do try to contain yourself, will you?

[[Ugh why does he even let you on his beach, seriously.]]

You know I struggle to control myself around you, Maxie. But I'll make a special effort this time.

[[No really, why are the flames....purple

You have just emasculated FIRE, Maxie, ONLY YOU]]

[Um excuse you but your beach? Your half of the beach is over there and covered in water, thank you very much; he is perfectly allowed to flametest on his half.]

Always good to know. I wouldn't want to have to -

[...no but really, why are you staring at that though]

...discipline you so early on - is there a problem?

[Edmond tends to stay away from beaches because, as we know, the sea is evil. But... those flames can be seem from quite a distance, yes they can! And when Edmond rushes over to have a better look and sees Maxie... well, he can only stand paralyzed with excitement and wonder, bringing his hands together near his heart and barely refraining from squealing in glee.]

Ah! Such a marvelous shade... as if the purest of amethysts had come to life, and begun to dance!

[He's still quite a distance away and maybe Maxie won't be able to see him right away, but really, who else talks like that?]

[No one that Maxie knows, that's for sure; honestly, even if he can't see you at this point - and he can't, because holy shit, Edmond, these flames are fascinating! - he's capable of greeting you anyway, because you're just...that distinctive. Congratulations?]

And a good morning to you as well, Edmond!

[Ah, first it was Kari singing, now it's Maxie doing this! The collector is overjoyed to see that some of his favorite people in the universe are such amazing artists. He waltzes up to Maxie's side, his hands still clasped together and his crimson eyes fixed on the flames.]

Ah, I seem to have forgotten proper etiquette again... Your art is just that breathtaking, Maxie.

[He finally turns to face Maxie and beams.]

Good morning.

[...is there something about burning things and/or making them explode that compels very flamboyant people to refer to it as an art form? Because really, it's catharsis more than anything else -

But this is you, Edmond, so...oh. Well. Hello, you, you're suddenly very close, aren't you?]

I wouldn't call it art, exactly, though I suppose it's nice to know you appreciate it.

[Given that Elisa practically lives by the beach, being a good training spot, it's not long before those flames catch her eye. ...Holy damn. Looking to the Chandelure that's beside her, she partially wonders if he had anything to do with it.

...Yet again, that doesn't stop Elisa from stepping up and taking a look. A bit of a smile on her face. It really is amazing. ...Man, she'd love to find out how to do this with her fire Pokemon's attacks.]

Elisa - I should have known this would get your attention eventually, hm?

[Elisa blinks a bit, before looking over to see who said that--]

Heh, well ya certainly know how to. Can't say I'd be able to resist somethin' I've never seen before! [...But seriously. How did you do that?]

[Your fascination with this is amusing him greatly, Elisa.]

What can I say? It's a nice effect - things like this are usually done on a much smaller scale, of course, but once in a while...well.

You seem to have a good appreciation for causing a spectacle every now and then; I think you understand what I'm getting at.

[Ah, the beach. There isn't any place on the island Archie likes more. Or at least, that's what he'd normally think - but someone's decided to start a giant bonfire on the beach and that just leaves the question of why. Archie's approaching when the flames suddenly turn purple.]

[Not even going to ask how that's possible. In fact, he totally would have turned away and pretend he never saw it if it hadn't been for the now-visible back of the person who clearly started that fire.]

[Oh come on, Archie would have recognized that horrible hair-cut anywhere.]

[It briefly occurs to him that there is at least another Maxie on the island he hasn't met - but the very idea that this could be that Maxie crushes his initial hesitance to approach. For once Archie doesn't have Sharpedo out when he approaches - probably because the shark still likes attacking anyone he recognizes as a member of Team Magma.]

[Archie finally gets within talking distance, and that's when he notices the lack of jacket. Odd.]

Purple, huh. [Archie would say something ( ... )

[Oh, come now, it takes a certain amount of fierceness to rock an eighties haircut this bad. More than your body can handle, clearly~

As it stands, however, he vaguely recognizes the voice, though something seems a bit off about it - he'll just be turning to face you, then and...ah. Well. Hello there. You look like...well. At risk of being completely obvious, you look like Archie - the...um, guy he happens to know, as opposed to the one who looks like he crawled out of the depths of hell to consume the flesh of the living.]

How observant.

[...No. Just no, Maxie.]

[Hmm, you don't look as... well, for lack of a better word crazy as the other Maxie he's met. You're also clearly not the Maxie he knows, which is another good thing.]

Aren't I? [Archie's tone is just as light, but he's still wary; especially now that it seems you're not the Maxie he's already met.] I don't think we've met before. 'Course you know who I am, an' I know who you are. [Shrug.]

[Hm. Well, from the last...thirty seconds, Maxie has already gathered that either you're unspeakably jaded or a complete fucking idiot. His money, knowing Archie in general, is on the latter, but for now he will humor you - he draws one of his hands back, settling it on his hip, while the other will just give you a vague, dismissive gesture for your effort.]

Do I really? Because honestly, Archie, if you believe that, then you either haven't been here long or you're going to be rather rudely disillusioned one day.

[ That fire would be 20% cooler if it was pink~

Ah~ The beach. Waves, sand and nice refreshing breeze. But hey, there's a fire. A purple fire. How pretty~ Rosetta can't help stare at it in wonder. ]

I wonder if roast berries would be any good... [ Hm, that's something she's going to have to think about. ]

Berries! [ She takes off her hat, and reveals that it's filled with all sorts of berries. ]

I've never tried to cook them before, only freshly picked. They would probably be good roasted on an open fire! [ She smiles and puts her hat back on. ]
