Thank you all for your kind comments on the post yesterday.  Last night, the kitty was having trouble standing up and seemed to be in a really bad way; and then this morning he was all bright-eyed and mewing for food and almost his old self again; and then he laid down in his chair for several hours, glassy-eyed, twitching, his breathing shallow ( Read more... )

Being worried about your cat who lives with you and is a huge part of your life every day but not being particularly upset over the loss of a relative you have no real relationship with does NOT mean you aren't a good person. It's totally normal and I hope you can find a way to not feel bad about it. Your cat is just as deserving of love and devotion as a human being. *Hugs*

It's okay, and totally normal, to be worried for your cat. Animals love us unconditionally.

<3 you kiddo.

You know, I think animals do this crap just to screw with us. My dog was really sick yesterday - trembling and puking and stuff. Today - fit as a flea.

I'm sorry about your uncle, but I know exactly what you mean. I have lost a number of relatives over the years who I either didn't know at all or had no strong bond with. Doesn't make you a bad person, but an honest one.

Happy new year, doll. I hope Schdrodie stops giving you shit.

You are a fine person. You have a responsibility towards your cat, who has only shown you love-- you're bonded. It's a totally different circumstance from a relative you don't interact with often. Apples to oranges.

Of course you're a good person, sweetheart. There's always another potential crisis which can make yours seem trivial by comparison, but it never really means that what you're worrying about is actually trivial, just that life is weird that way. There could always be something worse, all the way up to the zombie apocalypse.

Further snuggles to the kitty, who can kindly stop freaking the pair of you out now, please! Do you know what's wrong with him, has he seen the vet?

I started to answer this, and then it turned into a really long rant about the stupid fucking vet, so I'm going to just turn it into a post.
