I just picked up ME2 yesterday on my lunch break. I'm enjoying it quite a bit, though I'm obviously not terribly far into the game, but it fixed some of the complaints I had with the first one. And I agree, I was in somewhat awe of the opening as well.

Also, do finish ME1! A lot of your choices in the first game carry over to the second, and I'm not just talking about the big ones, but I had at least one character from a relatively minor sidequest pop-up and remember what I had done for them.

I really do want to finish it. I look forward to hearing anything non-spoilery you can tell me about your impressions of the new one when you get a little bit further into it. :)
