Metafilter culls some good stuff, sometimes. I worked on a Bill Moyers project years ago at SCETV, but I hadn't thought about him for a while. I found this essay on belief, holy wars, and the current state of democracy to be thought-provoking. Preserved behind the LJ-cut for posterity.

Holy shit that's a great piece. I forwarded that url around, I owe you big time.

That's one of those essays that makes you jealous, there's so many good lines and tons of great research in there.

NOW is a good program, Boo and I end up watching the PBS news and the European Report instead of our local news, don't know how Atlanta is, but Seattle's newspapers aren't fit for fishwrap, and the local news is just abysmally bad.
