I love your whole analysis on Klaus and Hayley and how they do have something to understand or recognize about the other. I think the actual idea about Klaus being in some ways very right about his circumstances ...I think it's the most realistic reading of him.

IMO it's why he's so effective as a character, too. If he's irrationally paranoid, if he's a megalomaniac, if he's just wired to be an awful sadist, then there doesn't need to be a reason for his behavior, he can just be a malevolent force of nature. But he's not that. There's a very consistent logic there. I don't know if we'd all act the way Klaus does, given his life, but I do believe that pretty much everyone would think that way.

I don't know how much you know, but without giving anything away, it's one of the stronger MP plots I've seen, so I hope you can stick with it. I'll also say, having seen the whole season, those few middle episodes that were weirdly slow by TVD/TO standards were actually setting up a very tight endgame for the season, which may make them easier to plow through.

Yeah, I actually didn't think Tyler intended to kill Klaus? But I do think he very definitely intended to kill the baby, and it both shocked me that they were willing to go that far with him and pleased me that they did, for all the reasons you point out.

I love that Tyler really hit bottom and spent most of the past year there, and yeah, this was a big part of it. Because he can't do something that runs the risk of actually killing Klaus unless he's okay with taking himself and half the vampire population down with him, but he can turn around and come down on this pregnant girl like a ton of bricks.

EMMY-NOMINATED DRAMA THE ORIGINALS

I AM STILL LAUGHING

Yeah, it was interesting partly because it was a real departure from his previous approach to Klaus IMO? Like, it's the first time I've seen Tyler go for something other than "Throw himself/his body into the line of fire to prevent Klaus causing further damage," and instead opt for using someone else (far more vulnerable and an easier target) as leverage against Klaus.

That's really apt, I think. The character kind of shifted from passively defensive (taking himself off the board frequently) -> actively defensive (expecting the pack to stand up to Klaus) -> going on the offensive in this past season. Which I feel like is the kind of journey which is usually celebrated in that Be A Man kind of way? and I loved the way it was so clearly not a good thing for Tyler.
