This is why I can't have nice things have Anger Issues don't stray outside of my f-list.
I blame myself, really. I should've known better to click on a link that read "
The Search for Spike's Balls." I did have a moment where I realized just how terrible a mistake reading it would be, and then I thought the following thought:
NOBODY COULD POSSIBLY

YOU CAN'T MAKE ME READ IT!!!
Anyway, I have a good guess as to what it says: "Spike was awesome, hardcore, and manly until he got hit with the love bug then he became a lame pussy loser."
I hate that particular complaint about Spike on SO MANY levels.
One: Even leaving feminism out of it, THAT'S CALLED CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, PEEPS! Okay, so some people aren't jazzed about the direction of that development. But, personally, I'm glad we got it over four years of static cardboard cut-out Spike. I mean, look at Oz, a character who had no real substantial development of his own when he was a regular. Know what happened? HE LEFT.
Two: Falling in love is unmanly? Becoming less aggressive/evil is unmanly? Really? evil!Spike is what men are supposed to be like? Don't get me wrong, I love evil!Spike (in a fictional character sorta way), but he's not my platonic ideal of manhood. He doesn't exactly exhibit the traits that I think all ( ... )

HOW EVER DID YOU KNOW. It's not like this kind of crap isn't available everywhere any day, but it's especially snarkable to me tonight.

WHY I NEVER. WHAT ARE YOU, SOME KINDA SISSY JANE AUSTEN READING SNOB? BALLS! BALLS, I SAY!
I've seen the ponytail tip, too. And I'm really glad someone told me! Because my hair clip is a MAGIC ANTI-VIOLENCE SHIELD.
The boyfriend gets all rage-y about this stuff with me because he has a different conception of "masculinity" than the rest of society appears to, and he gets angry when he sees men portrayed as being out-of-control beasts. Usually by anti-feminists, oddly enough.
Yeah. The idea that feminists think all men are monsters is projection like the world has never seen before.

What I really don't get is how she doesn’t even just leave it at Angel, Riley, Xander and Spike. She talks about Buffy sucking away Faith and Willow's "testosterone." Huh? They have testosterone? Not only does that make absolutely no sense but it's also deeply offensive.
Oh, and she called Buffy "whiny" because she was upset in S2? Yeah, 'cause how dare Buffy be a little down after she slept with someone she loved and accidentally unleashed the "worst vampire on record" who's hell bent on mentally torturing her, killing her friends, and destroying the world. Suck it up princess! Ugh.

....no.

Yes, it's completely appalling. I mean, cracking that kind of gender-essentialist joke is hairy at best, but it's particularly disturbing to fling at Willow, given that that's usually a nasty thing people throw at lesbians in particular. It is completely unacceptable.
