Oh shit I haven't watched Razor in an age so I only remember 20% of what you talk about in this post, that 20% mostly pertaining to Cain and Gina. Haaaarsh. The "You're not my type" line always threw me as well - it always felt weird and forced the first time in Resurrection Ship, and then seeing the context in Razor it left an iffy taste in my mouth. Except you articulate it better here.

Btw, I'm totally making my way through season 2 of True Blood at the mo in which CAIN IS LIKE, THE SHE-DEVIL, and OH yeah, I feel you.

I just basically have a GIANT CRUSH on everyone on this show except for Cavil, Tigh, and Bill.

lol, those would be my picks too.

My only complaint: y so absent Gaius??

It is one of those (MANY) times in this show when I realize they needed someone in the room to yell THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE DOING. THINK ABOUT IT. I mean, just the idea of a person in Cain's position being in a same-sex relationship and it being NBD is pretty progressive, so I don't think they intended this. BUT STOP AND THINK OH MY GOD.

THIS SHOW IS ALL ABOUT SEX. I also have a crush on everyone on it including Bill but minus Leoben. That fucker creeps me out.

And what is with my love of tragic lesbian stories? I just love it! I love the idea that lesbiandom is too hot for the world to handle. My progressive politics, let me show you them :).

Also, I could not stop thinking about Kendra from Buffy S2 while you were talking about Kendra. Coincidence? I think not.

Aww! Yeah, I am fully supportive of lesbian couples getting to be tragic, as long as that is not all they get to do; I guess I at least need to be able to pretend some folks get to live happily ever after.

hahaha I know! I actually kept describing her in ways that she sounded way more like KtVS than Kendra Shaw.

This is why we have Dykes to Watch Out For! Love. And Itty Bitty Titty Committee. And The Beebo Brinker Chronicles. And Zami. And Ariel Schrag! And Wanda Sykes.

lol! There's a moment in Unfinished Business when she totally leers at two female boxers, checks them both out, and then goes "that's a beautiful set" and my jaw just dropped.

WOW IT IS GOOD SOMEONE THOUGHT ABOUT IT. Though she's right, I was initially nervous about gratuitousness and that didn't happen at all, it got the same tasteful portrayal that Bill/Laura gets - they act like the way two people who are in a relationship act around other people.

Daniel Graystone! Interesting theory hm hm. Pondering.

On Cain/Gina, I definitely had a "You guys are aware of what you're doing here?" attitude through the whole thing. I feel like Cain is all kinds of butch evil lesbian cliches rolled up into one, which actually mightn't be that big a problem because she's a great and well-rounded and tremendously performed character. But the episode goes to lengths to make Cain even harder and even more extreme than she was shown to be in the earlier Pegasus episodes. It's very easy to read this as being a crazy lesbian getting even with the world because her lesbian lover turned out to be evil and just playing with her, and her decision to have Six raped as (seemingly) part general information-getting and part punishment for using her sexuality on other people gets very, very uncomfortable. The "Frak you"/"Not my type" thing is similarly problematic ( ... )

aaaah! yes! It just tracks so blatantly on these terrible homophobic narratives. It's not Cain's gender presentation or sexual identity that are the problem for me, it's that there's no other representation of someone like her so it ends up reinforcing awful stereotypes, even if it's clearly meant to challenge the lack of representation. I'm just as skeptical of the presentation of Six, as well; that awful biphobic stereotype that people just fake same-sex attraction to get something out of it; and, of course, also a mass murderer (involved in the genocide and then blows up Cloud 9). And they are so well-matched and have such an interesting dynamic, but since they are it as far as lesbian relationships go, the implications are awful ( ... )

....I only thought there was the one series of webisodes, huh. I don't think these are the ones with Gaeta, those don't seem to be until later.

I don't remember Razor because something about it squicked me hard early on and I walked out.
