For the darlingest Saki (shiroikazex) ♥ I hope this resembles anything like what you wanted. No christmas-themes, but I tried for the angst with a happy ending~! ♥
(Yuma, btw, refers to Takaki's younger brother. 8D Not the Nakayama one.)

It had been a complete accident that they'd run into each other. Haruma had just been wanting to do some last minute grocery shopping and with filming running so late, the wee hours of the morning were his current options. He was trying to be fast though. Takeru was staying the night and it wasn't like he had much time to spend with his boyfriend between needing sleep and having to get up early. Such was their lifestyle.

He froze when he saw Yuya standing there. It had been months since they'd last seen each other and Haruma felt his stomach lurch with sudden nerves.

Takaki Yuya had become special to him over the period of filming Gokusen. They'd become close, very close, and Haruma had come to realize that Yuya meant a lot more to him than just a friend. It had been a completely chaotic moment of flailing limbs and timid kissing when he learned that Yuya felt the same way.

It had been nearly perfect.

Nearly.

He couldn't help walking up and tapping the other on the shoulder. “Hey there.”

Startled brown eyes met his own and Haruma was again reminded about how gorgeous Yuya's eyes were. He'd loved just staring in to them back then. Back when they'd still been something.

“Haruma?”

They'd both tried to keep it working, but things got harder once all the filming and promotions for Gokusen had ended. In the end, Haruma felt guilty for trying to occupy Yuya's free time when he had family and other friends. Yuya had admitted that he felt like he couldn't give Haruma the attention he deserved. They'd parted ways with a promise to be friends... but in the end, when they'd let go of each other's hands, they'd let go completely. The texting stopped, the coffee runs stopped, and the sleepovers stopped.

He smiled at Yuya, tilting his head. “I'm surprised to see you here.”

Yuya bit his lip, sheepish and awkward as he smiled. “JUMP has a concert tour coming up and rehearsals are a killer. Yuma wanted me to grab him some more chocolate milk on my way home.”

Haruma had known about the concerts. He had planned to go with Shouhei and a few other friends. He'd also planned to leave before the others tried to invade the backstage to see Yuya and the rest. He did like seeing Yabu and Hikaru, but having to see Yuya again just felt so unnecessarily painful.

Nodding, he nodded to his shopping basket. “Same here. Sucks to be awake, right?”

Yuya echoed him faintly, still looking completely flustered. They lapsed into silence, Haruma desperately searching for something else to say. It shouldn't have been this bad, but he couldn't think of anything to say except maybe a very belated 'Sorry I gave up so easily'.

“I... I guess I should go check out,” he muttered. Yuya looked away, nodding, and they stepped away from each other, sharing one last furtive look before separating.

Feeling unreasonably guilty, Haruma headed to pay for his few purchases. He mentally scolded himself. It was ridiculous to feel bad about the situation. It was so far in the past and there had been several good reasons for breaking up with Yuya. Besides, they'd moved on, hadn't they? Haruma remembered Akito (he kept up with the two Juniors much better than he had Yuya) mentioning that some Hamada had asked Yuya out. And Haruma had Takeru too. Good friends that had become something more in a comfortable way.

It still weighed on his mind as he stepped outside. It had started raining while he'd been shopping and everything was slick and cold. He cursed as he stared walking. He hadn't thought to grab an umbrella, it had been clear skies that morning.

“Haruma!”

Haruma froze as Yuya's voice called out. They were out on the streets now and Yuya was jogging to catch up, hair already starting to cling to his face.

“Yuya...?” He hesitated, stoppping as Yuya skidded to a stop next to him, looking lost and lonely. “What's wrong?”

“I...” Yuya stared at him for a moments before looking down on the ground. “Don't you... Don't you ever miss me?”

It must have been because of the rain, but it took Haruma a few moments to realize that Yuya was actually crying.

“Yuya...” He almost sighed. “What kind of a question is that?”

“An honest one,” Yuya mumbled, barely audible. “Do you? Miss me? What we were? Anything? I know you're... well, yeah.” Takaki looked down at his feet again. “But I... I really miss you, Haru.”

“I miss you too, Yuya,” Haruma replied gently. “And I'm sorry... I'm sorry it's like this. But you know what happened.” Selfish needs for attention and everything else, Haruma would always regret letting go. He wanted so badly to wipe away those tears in Yuya's eyes and tell him he still loved him.

“I'm sorry,” Takaki swiped a wet hand across his cheeks, which didn't help anything much. They were now pretty soaked in the rain. “I should have tried harder. I'm sorry, Haruma...”

“...Idiot,” Sighing, Haruma leaned forward. He'd intended to hit Yuya over the head, but somehow, in all the chilled air and his own confused thoughts, he ended up gently kissing Yuya's cheek. Numb lips against slick skin and they both froze, eyes gently meeting. Another tear fell down Takaki's cheeks, mingling with the raindrops.

“I hurt you,” Haruma said finally. “And I'm sorry... but don't you remember, Yuya?”

“Is it different with him?” Yuya asked, eyes flashing despite the tears. “Honest to god, Haruma, is it any different?”

Haruma opened his mouth to reply and realized he had no answer for that. It was different, but not in the way Yuya was thinking. They were still busy, very busy, but Takeru worked with what time he had. With Yuya, Haruma had always felt like they would never have enough time, always trying to cram things in together. Frantic and hurried and Haruma had always felt like the relationship was more stress for Yuya, who was already high strung.

“...” Yuya shook his head, stepping back. “Sorry, I shouldn't be asking you that. I'll... I'll see you around.”

Haruma acted on instinct, hand shooting out and catching Yuya's hand. Stupid, stupid, stupid, his mind was saying, but he was already ignoring his better judgment as he pulled the other closer. “I've always loved you,” he muttered before covering Yuya's cold lips with his own.

It was a cold, desperate, needy kiss, met on both sides with feelings they'd bottled up since their fingers had unwound from each other's nearly a year before.

Stupid, Haruma realized, but it was too late. Not stupid because of Takeru, but stupid because a flood memories he'd been ignoring now danced through his mind as they kissed. The little things. The way Yuya's eyes had sparkled every time he saw Haruma. The way Yuya's lips curved into a smile every time Haruma told him a story. The way Yuya had snuggled against him as they fell asleep.

Yuya, Yuya, Yuya.

They pulled away, but only barely, Haruma's lips still playing over Yuya's lips as he spoke. “Come home with me.”

Takeru was there, waiting. Haruma didn't want to keep him waiting any longer. He wasn't sure what he was going to say, but somehow, somehow in his maddening, utterly insane mind, he knew that since it was Takeru, it would all work out somehow. Somehow. What he was even wanting to happen, he wasn't even sure, but he was aware that Yuya was starting to shiver and they were both going to come down with a major cold if they didn't get dried and warmed soon.

“But...” Yuya tried to pull away but Haruma didn't let go of his hand.

“Please.”

He knew before Yuya looked up that he'd give in. He knew because of the way Yuya's fingers had instantly squeezed back and because it was Yuya. He knew Yuya.

They held hands the entire way back to Haruma's apartment, which wasn't that far away, thankfully.

Takeru uncurled himself from the couch as the two of them stumbled through the door, looking surprised to see Yuya.

Yuya looked like a pathetic little kitten, all wet with his hair plastered to his face and in his eyes. Seeing Takeru, he stiffened, trying to pull his hand away from Haruma's, but again, Haruma wouldn't let go. “Sorry, I'm so late...” he said, smiling apologetically.

Takeru, for what it was worth, didn't look too concerned that his boyfriend was holding hands with someone else. He just nodded, nodding towards the kitchen. “I'll go get some tea made... you both are going to get sick if you stay like that.”

Haruma ushered Yuya into his room, finally letting go of his hand to rummage around, trying to find some sweats and a shirt for the other to wear.

Yuya just stood there, shivering, looking as lost and confused as he had when he'd run after Haruma. “What... what happens now.”

Haruma thought about it as he passed Yuya a change of clothes and a towel. “...I'm not sure yet.” he replied, honestly. “But I know that I want you to stay in my life, this time around.”

Yuya managed a small smile before Takeru's voice floated through the door. “Believe me, I'm not going to take care of either of you if you get sick!”

A/N: I will admit I don't know a whole ton about Takeru except for occasional glimpses and what Koukou tells me. 8DD Also, feel my horribly unsubtle love for Kanjuu+Takaki. 8D
