Who: Dean, Kaylee, Garak, and Doc Nine Where: Garage When: Following this PM on the network What: Dean and Kaylee clean up the mess from the fire fight, company turns up.
After getting Dean's PM, Kaylee decked herself out in her scavanging best. Coveralls, heavy boots, thick leather gloves in her back pocket and her hair tied back off her face. Practically skipping down to the garage, she realized she was more excited about sifting through the wreakage, than she had been about anything in quite some time.
"MARCO!" she called when she didn't see Dean anywhere between the cars.
Dean looked up from where he sat in the passenger seat, the guts of the radio system scattered between him and the dashboard. He was in the middle of detaching the cables from the car (hopefully saving the wires) when he heard Kaylee's voice.
"POLO!" Dean called back, pulling a small screwdriver from between his teeth where he had been holding it.
"Pontiac with the flat tires, Kaylee." The hunter informed as he reached into the open maw of the dash and found the mating connections. With a couple of quick pulls, they came apart and the radio was free.
Garak emerged from the lift with an armful of folded cloth samples he intended to present to the Doctor for his TARDIS project and a few sketches he had worked up just in time to hear a bellowed, "POLO!" from a voice that didn't sound familiar. He proceeded cautiously until he could get a better idea of what he had walked in on, seeing only a woman from behind and part of a man extending from the cab of one of the ruined vehicles.
"Excuse me," he called pleasantly, in part to announce himself and in part to get a better look at the two, "but have either of you seen the Doctor?"
The Doctor read the final page of his book, sighed contentedly and closed it. Selecting a jelly baby, he popped it into his mouth, closed his eyes and pushed the paper bag back into the pocket of his jacket.
Stretched out comfortably on a newly borrowed sun lounger, he listened idly to voices echoing towards him from somewhere over the other side of the garage, although the way sounds got distorted he wasn't completely convinced. He'd noticed some burned cars on one of his return trips, but no clue as to what had caused the damage.
Whatever had happened, hadn't come close enough to his TARDIS or the makeshift tented extension, that conveniently blocked his view of the garage- and even more conveniently- anyone's view of him!
Kaylee grabbed Dean's wrist again, this time not out of comfort, but to steel herself at the revelation about Dukat. She was no innocent, and while she had never personally killed anybody, she was part of a crew that had many times over, and was at peace with that. But being responsible for the death of billions? Swallowing hard she forced a smile to her face. "It sure is a teddy bear," she confirmed.
"An' sure thing Doctor," she answered, her smile relaxing into something a little more natural. "I could definitly set some anchors for you and any other metal work ya'll need done."
The Doctor's eyes blinked rapidly and he began to chew at the inside of his cheek, killed billions... he knew what that felt like, having to decide if.... Staring down at the floor, he pushed his thoughts away from the choices he'd been forced into making- not that it made him any less a killer (at least not in his eyes), it had still been his hand on the button, his actions. What he hadn't expected was that he would survive- a cruel twist of fate, almost as bad as ending up in the Hotel, unless of course this place was his purgatory.
Suddenly grinning at Kaylee and then Garak, he nodded. "Fantastic, thank you, Kaylee. I'm sure that would make the job a lot easier, wouldn't it, Garak?"
Hallucinations? Lovely. Just...lovely. Garak kept his face carefully neutral. Had he needed any further confirmation just from which point in time he was dealing with Dukat, that was it. "Don't be so certain it was the..." there was that anthropomorphism of the hotel again, truly disturbing! "The hotel." He could do this. He could talk about Ziyal in front of these strangers and the Doctor without revealing how much it affected him, too. He had to
( ... )
Dean remained impassive, holding a calm and steady ground for Kaylee's sake...given the way she kept grabbing at his wrist. He wasn't too disturbed at the revelation of Dukat's body count...it wasn't like the hunter had the cleanest closet himself.
"Well, you don't sound half as commanding or intimidating as him." Dean offered, a smile starting to pull across his face. "So I think that is a great start." Note to self: Dukat is a few fries short of a happy meal. Dean added in thought.
Dean turned his attention though to the Doctor, now wanting to be talking about something else besides death and madmen. "You moved down here? What's that been like?"
Dean wondered back towards the workshop, weaving his way around the wrecks and debries as he did. He scanned several of the cars interiors looking for the missing mechanic and figured she might have gone back to her shop to tinker with her skift.
"Kaylee?" Dean called on approach. "We going to tear these wrecks apart or not?" He asked.
Kaylee was laying in her hammock gently rocking herself with the foot she had propped up on the corner of the work bench, staring at an arbitrary spot on the wall when she heard Dean call her name from some where outside in the garage.
"I'm in here!" she called back, not making out what else he said.
Dean pushed open the door to the workshop and leaned in, following the sound of the mechanic's voice. He found her tucked away in a corner of the workshop, in a hammock of all things. He blinked at the scene and came the rest of the way into the shop.
He set the radio on the bench and pulled up a seat on top of a stack of tires propped against the wall. The hunter settled in and absently rubbed at his chest with a grimace as he eased himself back.

"You alright?" Dean asked after a long moment.
