Xander was, as he was apt to be, bored. And that sort of boredom precluded needing to find something to do. The rooms had been on the move again, which meant that he was (unwillingly of course) playing his least favorite game 'find the game room'. A game that, while winning was fun, could take far too long to play, and Xander was in no mood for the hotel's shenanigans today.
So, there he was, poking his head into room after room. He'd had no luck finding the aforementioned game room, and was starting to feel a little dejected. He poked his head in another door, and looked around some more. No one in here, just Dawn. Xander pulled his head back out and started walking away when a bolt of inspiration hit him and he tore back into the previous room.
Dawn looked up when she heard her name being called. "Hey Xand." She froze when she realized what she just said. "XANDER!" she shouted, the pen that she had currently been nibbling on the back of, went flying in some unknown direction and her journal fell to the ground with a dull thud as Dawn launched herself off of the couch she was sitting on and across the room. "I'm so glad to see you!" she exclaimed giving him a hug of almost slayer like proportions. She had kept telling herself that she was glad there wasn't anyone from home, but really that was a lie.
Xander looked down at (the much shorter) Dawn, and hugged her back. She was not only back down to human size, but also much younger than he'd remembered her being previously. Which, fortunately for Xander, was not all that shocking. "When did you get here?" He asked, somewhat happy to see the little squirt, but also not happy, because that meant she was trapped in the hotel right there with the rest of them.
"A couple of days ago," Dawn replied with a little shrug of her shoulders. "Even though I still haven't figured out exactly where here is. Because Toto, we are defintely not on the Hellmouth anymore. I mean I've been told about the alternate universe thing, but you have to admit that's pretty of the weird, even for us," she babbled happy to one of the adults she trusted most in the world, willing to push that whole key thing to the wayside for now.
"And what's with the eye patch?" she asked curiously. "It seems a little snowy outside for it to be anywhere close to halloween. Or is it just to make you look cooler? I mean I guess it does kind of make you look dangerous," she said teasingly, making to reach up for it.
"And since Vamps are human around here that means that there isn't anything here for her to kill, that just means she is going to have all her free time to be mad at me," Dawn reasoned, completely sure of her line of logic. "I'm so doomed," she sighed dramatically.
And the happy memories kept on coming as Dawn continued rambling about how screwed she was, which caused Xander to take a few steps forward and hug his 'little sister'. "Oh I missed you kid..." He said, probably acting a little weird, but he really did miss those times.
"I've missed you too," she said reflexively, even though it had been less than a week since she had seen him last, and she was still supposed to be mad at him for the whole not telling her she was the key thing. "And I'm not a kid," Dawn grumbled into his chest as she hugged him, more out of obligation then out of real complaint.
Xander finished giving Dawn a hug and nodded down at her. "Fine fine, not a kid. Sorry. Force of habit." He said, still trying to get used to the fact that not only was Dawn here, but she was back in her mid-teens. Which, considering the last time he saw her, she was a little older (and much larger).
Xander looked up from his pizza to raise an inquisitive eyebrow. "Pam? I'm not familiar with Pam. Who's she?" He asked, curious as to who else his little sister (by proxy) had been spending time with at the hotel Hellton.
"Well she never actually tried it," Dawn replied, as if that made it okay. "We just have different taste in music. We both liked Breakfast at Tiffany's though, so that counts for something. She's a vampire, or was," she added further explaining the death threats. "An abnormally health conscious one considering she didn't even eat for the past couple centuries," she added with a slight confused frown. "She's always talking about trans-fats and high fructose corn syrup and whatever. And honestly, why would a vampire even know about the South Beach diet?"
While Xander had some dumb moments in his life, fortunately he was wise enough to catch on to the fact that Dawn was just trying to figure out where her sister was so she could go find her later. Which, was fair considering she WAS her sister, and no matter how much Xander didn't want to touch the subject of Buffy with a 10 foot pole, he couldn't deny Dawnie that. "She's on the first floor." He said, not sure which room was hers, considering he didn't actually know at all.
Xander shook his head. He had no desire to know where Spike lived, because that would probably put him near a slayer that didn't care to see him. "No.. I've got nothing on that one. Probably somewhere near Buffy."
"Oookay," Dawn replied drawing out the word, more than a little surprised to hear that Xander didn't know where Buffy and Spiked lived. She would have thought that would be the first thing any of the Scoobies did, not that Spike was a Scooby, so maybe that wasn't quite as shocking. But still he was still from Sunnydale and you would think that in a place like this you would gravitate towards the familiar. Besides, even back home before Spike and Buffy were dating or whatever they were doing in this strange alternate reality, everyone knew where Spike's crypt was.
"So I guess even in the future Spike is still person non grated with you?" she asked curious about Xander's clear lack of interest hwen it came to Spike's living situation.
