Smidge is almost (not quite) a entire handful! Hard to believe she use to be a little thumb-size baby ^^
I hadn't had good viewing conditions for the Perseids for several years in a row, so I was totally psyched to catch them this year. The video is pretty much exactly what I saw in an hour or so, compressed into 14 seconds ^_^
I've seen the process several times, but it never gets old - especially one in my very own yard :D This one was so pretty, drying its wings in the morning sun.
*goes 'splodey* OMG LOOKIT THE WEE LITTLE FROGGLING!!!!!!!! :DDDDDDDDDDDDD <333333333333333
Awesome project, as well, with the surveys for missing amphibian species - it was big news a few decades back, but seemed like it kind of dropped off the radar in recent years. Thanks for the link!
EEEEEEEEE!!! Pencil tip froglet - good golly, can it get any cuter? <33333333333333
And yeah, that's quite a discovery, to find an entirely new species like that! Frogs are tricky though - you have to be in the right place at exactly the right time for some of them, (the toads in my park all sing for about one week, and then you only see an odd one or two until next spring) so not too surprising that some species or populations might get missed.

We didn't get a good view of the shower, so thanks for sharing the vid - it's nice to show to the kids.
