Delta Blues

This almost collects my feelings about Delta Airlines, aside from the frothing-at-the-mouth profanities over not having an on-time flight in more than six years.

It could be worse:

You could have a really shitty 7 hour flight.

I've flown all my life, mostly Delta of course (since my dad's a retired Delta pilot) but other airlines as well. They all have their good and bad aspects--I mean, I wouldn't even blame Continental for the above since apparently it was because some nitwit stuffed a latex glove in the toilet. How can you prevent imbecility? It's possible something similar happened with whatever happened on your flight, although I will admit I have a natural bias toward the airlines, for obvious reasons.

Maybe you just shouldn't fly Delta :) I sympathize with your frustration since I loathe the MTA with every fiber of my being, and if there were another mass transit agency in NYC, believe me I would be riding them!

For a while I was switching airlines with every flight, since everything got canceled or delayed. I keep defaulting to Delta because Cincinnati is a hub, so it's a lot easier to get a flight there.

Something was going on, because there were police officers going through the gate pretty often. But the airline just said "we're waiting for a crew member" or "the plane is held up by Air Traffic Control" or "there's a thunderstorm grounding all flights." They lucked out that a storm started, so for anybody who wasn't there for half a day could possibly believe it was the cause of everything.

I have been outrageously patient with all airlines, especially Delta, for far too long. I hate flying to start with, and this incredible string of bad experiences is not helping. I should probably turns to trains exclusively.

In other news - since I'm grounded, I can work with you this weekend on video capturing and encoding. Let me know. I'm picking up my computer from my office this evening, and I'm off work until Tuesday.

I've often thought that being an airline agent would be the worst thing ever. It seems like it would be a constant stream of people venting frustrations on you. I always interact with agents with the assumption that we both want to get past this messy situation as quickly as possible. I usually start with "My flight to [city] has been canceled. What can you do for me?" in a hopeful tone, and lots of thank yous when they get it sorted out
