Have you ever read the stories like "Mourning gorilla holds onto her baby's dead body"? Apparently it's pretty common in the wild, and we often think of it being so strange that animals would do that. Yet in a way, we often do the same thing.

I end up being fearful of change. So it turns out that I have to look back at what happen and figure it out instead of being graceful enough to ride that change in tide.

You are a brilliant writer. You know I don't like the idea of closing off doors either. I don't like to burn bridges with people. At the same time, I'm the kind of person who feels like it's not too much to ask to want to be with someone who values the relationship as much as I do. If they valued the relationship, would they really be doing the things they do? It seems like the underlying problem that happens is that one party moves the relationship from top priority and puts it on a lower shelf. To me a "couple" is a tri-fold entity. There are the two individuals that are involved and then the relationship is like their "baby." It has to be nurtured, prioritized, given attention to above all things--sometimes this involves sacrificing individual needs for the benefit of the relationship ( ... )
