I thought Locke was a total prick. For someone who was so helpful to Charlie, he's turned such a cold shoulder. I think it is a weakness in Locke himself; now Charlie has (as Locke sees it) rejected the state of mind that Locke brought him in to, Locke rejects him utterly. No second chances. It's terribly wrong. Admittedly Charlie was being stupid, but it would have been much easier and safer to take the time to talk to him and find out why he was doing what he was doing, than what Locke did. I so understand the pull of that statue cache; I think it wasn't just a temptation or a reassurance to Charlie, it was also a reminder that he *had* rejected the dope, that he was strong enough, and he could keep rejecting it.
I thought the last shot was very symbolic. Charlie's been rejected, and he's shut himself off in return. I don't like where this is heading.
And I agree totally about the nappy commercial. I just cracked up watching it, and I think it was brave. I bet Dom loved the idea. He's not hung up :)
I'd agree "talented", I wouldn't go so far as "brave". I think any of them would have done the scene in diapers - it just seemed a bit silly to me. I wouldn't say that it took any bravery, but possibly a bit of eyerolling and "oh god, do I really have to do this ridiculous crap
( ... )
My use of the word brave does not pertain to bravery in the face of danger but rather bravery in the sense of choice in the face of public persona. I do not agree that every actor in that group would have done that scene. Actors make choices all the time about what they would and would not do in a role. Actors who are pretty full of themselves are less willing to do silly or undignified things. Doing a scene in a diaper is a pretty undignified thing to do. Ian McKellan questioned Elijah about the state of his fingernails being so chewed up. Elijah basically shrugged and admitted he had a problem with chewing on them. Ian then said that it was a brave thing for him to do. I don't know if it was a brave choice for Elijah or he just didn't care but I don't think many actors would have let them be seen like that. As a side note, someone of interest (I just heard this at ORC and the name escapes me)remarked that Elijah allowing his hands to be seen like that allowed us a different look at Frodo, which was a brave thing to show.
I honestly don't think any of the Lost actors are big enough or have enough pull to refuse to do a scene that the production team gives them. I'd personally only use "bravery" to describe his taking part in the scene if it were his choice, which isn't my impression of the way tv shows, including Lost, tend to work.
I just got to watch this one today and oh my God! It was one of the most emotional shows I've seen in a while.
The scene in the diapers? To me just shows how far the group was willing to demean themselves to keep themselves in the media eye. Since Driveshaft are supposed to be basically a one hit wonder band it gave me the impression of people willing to do almost anything to stay in the spotlight.
When Charlie walks into the flat and finds his piano gone? Oh, my heart just dropped to my feet. it was something he obviously treasures. ANd, yes, Liam deserves The Prick of the Year award. Liam seems to have the look out for #1 ideal well covered. Somebody else mentioned that Claire seems to have forgotten about how much Charlie has been there for her. That he was the only one who took her dreams seriously, he risked his life for her and her baby and that he's been nothing but sweet and generous to her. I do feel that Claire is maybe feeling overly protective of her baby and so is over reacting a bit. There was also the point made

I get the feeling that Eko is not your typical by-the-Book (pardon the pun) priest.
