I actually see Sam's moving on as a reaction to that first time when Dean went to hell. Kind of like how, when you've been hurt very badly you make a promise to yourself that you'll never let anything hurt you that badly again. He went through his own version of Hell when he thought he'd lost Dean the first time - is it any wonder that he decided 'uh-uh, not going there again'. It's what I would do, I have no doubt.
The glowy shit in Dean's arm was Benny's soul. Benny piques my curiosity. I am fully in favor of a likely new slash pairing, huzzah! Let there be much rejoicing! :P
I am anxious to hear about Cas too. I fear I may not like what I learn.
Holy fuck, does Dean make bloodied and battered sexy.

Excellent point. I've gathered that there has been some dislike in areas of fandom for Sam's choice. Although, there are probably fans who are pissed about Dean's reaction too, such is fandom. I think they both adjusted to their situations -- being utterly alone and purgatory, respectively -- in expected ways. Seeing how they re-adjust to life together makes the show even more interesting, imho.
Ah, that makes sense! I must have been distracted by bowlegs or something when that was explained.
Me too! After last season being so inconsistent, it's a thrill to have that feeling back again.
At the beginning, near the windmill, Dean dug up Benny's grave, cut his arm and the glowy shit fell onto Benny's skeleton and that brought him back to life. Ta-da!
