The "25 Things a Professional Woman Should Never Wear" lost me at "footless tights" when the alternative was ordinary tights that "give you a polished look". I am not furniture. Show me the list for professional men with such silliness in it!
"No makeup" also verboten, and justified by the objective evidence that women who wear makeup get paid more. Let's carry on reinforcing the message that women's prime duty is to be decorative.
There isn't an exactly equivalent menswear list, since that website is a site for women. However, I did produce something similar myself recently for the 'Looking the Part' session I did at our You're Hired! Making an Impact Workshop. If I remember, I'll try to dig it out and type it up. I put it together from various forum posts and discussions. Most of the girls at that session came to much the same conclusions as that website without any prompting from me.
Ta for the 5 myths that one was eye-opening and for its own reasons rather worrying. Mind you the author didn't seem to consider the significance of people in work & earning, paying tax etc and people put out of work and so claiming benefits (taking tax money out), are these things 'micro' in this sort of economic discourse or do they have a net effect one way or the other? I ask purely for information although my job may disappear by next March.
