Otacon should have seen it coming. He should have known it was possible. He was a computer hacker, for god's sake, and he had experimented to Glitch City and back with his Blue cartridge

Liquid didn't know what a glitch was. He'd never held a Gameboy before, nevertheless played a video game on one. The system hadn't even been released in Europe before he'd been deployed to Iraq.
He did know, though, that something was fucking wrong here.
He knew it when the music changed, when the world looked wrong and when his Pokemon suddenly stopped being themselves and turned into some kind of blank, mindless automaton. He'd gone to the Pokemon Center and demanded that they find out what was wrong, but all he'd gotten was the same lines of dialogue repeated again and again. Everyone was wrong. Everything was wrong. It was... Lovecraftian

Otacon turned so quickly at that he stumbled, falling to his knees with a stunned expression.
"L-Liquid--?!"
Otacon hadn't thought to use his Pokemon against it--because they didn't even register as being the same as they were only yesterday. He didn't know for sure if they would or even could listen to him.
But what he did know was that Liquid had just punched the computerized version of Cthulhu in the face.
[ He was right. And things always got worse when he was right. He knew his aching bones weren't for naught; though the world becoming pixelated was probably the furthest thing from his mind. It really reminded him of his rookie days, to be honest. Though, he did find it quite disturbing that none of his Pokemon came out of their balls, nor did they respond to him otherwise. Checking their stats, they all looked like pixelated video game characters.
He'd left his box outside that night, and it had turned into a pixelated copy, which... would blend in nicely for this new world, so he kept it with him. However, it wasn't long before he'd heard a strange roaring sound- monstrous, degenerated and pixelated as well. At the same time, though, it reminded him all too much of Metal Gear REX. Before he really could stop himself, Snake found himself running towards the roaring, his legs moving on their own. ]
Hnn!!
[ What he saw before him gave him a chill down his spine. A large, skeletal dinosaur, pixelated, and chasing after his nerd.

[Have a late-ass response. But Otacon wasn't the only one running. Turns out a job isn't exactly the most fun thing to stick around in when everyone around you suddenly turns into a set of flat pixels.]
[This wasn't like the fog. Heather hadn't been transported into her own personal nightmare. She still knew she was HERE. But that didn't mean she liked it. Edging out of the now lopsided Goldenrod Department Store cautiously, Heather looked around the city. Not good. This was definitely not good. She had to get back to the hotel-- find her friends. ANY of them. Unless they'd turned into something out of a glitched Mario Bros game too...]
[Turns out in glitch-land, sound doesn't work like it's supposed to. Normally Heather would have heard Otacon's footsteps, but shoes on coding doesn't make a whole lot of noise. Thus, it wasn't until she heard his BREATHING that she even started to turn around-- not in time to avoid being slammed into.]
UMPH!
[She was sent sprawling backwards, landing on the ground with the suggestion of a muffled thud, but nothing like the sound it would have made if she'd been on concrete when it happened.]

He cracked his knuckles as the skeletal Pokemon shook its head, almost as though clearing it-- not that there was anything there to clear.
"Get out of here, Hal. I'll take care of this."

He stood up shakily, grabbing Liquid's wrist and pulling with a frantic note to his voice.
"I need you to trust me on this--we have to get out of here. Now."

[The Aerodactyl-thing was thrown way off course, giving Otacon enough time to run over to Snake before it recovered.]
C-come on, we have to get out of here...! We can't fight that thing!

Can't fight it? What are you talking about?

[He had fallen as well, but quickly scrambled to his feet before looking around--good, no sign of a zombie Aerodactyl.]
Heather? A-are you okay?
