I went kayaking for the first time today! A northbay hiking group that I found online was sponsoring a trip to go kayaking at the mouth of the Russian River today, and having the day off I decided to finally join them for a trip.

Ruminations on writing (part 1)
I have long thought about writing my own fantasy novel one day, and it's been something on my mind more and more. I forgot how mind numbingly boring sitting in airports is. Thank goodness for ipods.
I arrived safe and sound in SLC for Sarah & Rob's wedding. My sole duty now is to await the arrival of Rudy. Damn him and his slow Texas flight! He shall rue the day! *shakes fist* -
the effects of sleep
One thing I have always found curious about myself is that I have what seems to be a remarkably low incidence of (remembered) dreams. And it's not even remembering the dream itself. I rarely seem to recall having any dreams at all. I can say this because it's not uncommon to hear friends or coworkers talk about dreams, and it's rare I can chime ( Read more... ) -

So I received a last minute email from a guy I met in the Napa Active 20/30's club this afternoon. They field a softball team, they were short players, and someone had told him I was interested. I was all over that! So what if I haven't thrown a ball or played in 10 years :)

It was fantastic to start this morning by stepping on the scales and seeing 204 come across the screen. Talk about not just feeling great from running making me happy, but also smiling from seeing the immediate result in my weight :)
What's most satisfying, I think, is just the mental, spiritual, and "non weight" physical benefits I have been ( Read more... ) -
