What Bowser did hit him a little harder on the inside than what he was willing to even admit to himself. That was how Mac had dealt with all those problems and insecurities. Instead of trying to learn to cope, he let it sit inside himself to only be brought up if he was pushed far enough. It made him feel stupid and weak when he would react in the way he did...And he managed to blow Bowser off in the end, especially in regards to his last comment about life. He had to hear it from the REAL Falcon's mouth, even if he had to spill his guts again. Not that he didn't trust him with it, he's told other people about it too...but it was never a topic he liked to bring up. Where he came from and what he had to to despite the problems Mac had.

Of course, it wasn't until she realized that while she was heading towards the cafeteria for a drink, she saw him on the other side of the hallway steadily approaching.
For some strange reason she felt almost... fearful for what he'd say to her next. Smee was pretty much bracing for whatever he had to say to her next. The beagle girl was actually kind of hoping that he didn't notice her.

He hadn't even been given the chance to say hello to Smee upon her return.
The process of patching things up with everyone was going to be long and arduous, but what else could he do? He approached the girl. "Hey, Smee."

Even if it might not work.
"W-Whatever you have to say to me, don't say it. I don't want to hear anything else." She barked, trying to sound intimidating. It... wasn't really going for her. At least she was trying, though. Suddenly her expression turned to a hard frown and she crossed her arms. "I didn't appreciate what you had to say to me before, sir. I-I mean it..."

He still didn't know what Blood did, but he could probably make a few guesses.
"Hey, that wasn't me. I have no idea what that other guy said to you."
