The Dark Tower Movie - as cast by me

May 14, 2008 14:54

I was sitting around watching some fan made Dark Tower trailers. Some were utter garbage, but some were pretty danged good. I started thinking about casting since it will most likely be live action. Though I personally think a cell shade rendered series of movies with a color pallet that is usually limited, like was done in 300, only have the ( Read more... )

A couple of suggestions anonymous January 30 2009, 20:50:27 UTC
Cort: I rather fancy Ed Harris would fit the part here, although previous poster has suggested him as Lon, Tall and Ugly.

Speaking of whom: Is anyone familiar with the actor Thomas Jane..? I enjoyed watching him in another King movie "The Mist" recently. And harking back to "The Punisher", I think he's got the brooding character nailed too. Maybe he should lose some weight though (muscle I mean), he's perhaps a bit too 'beefy' at the moment. Plus there's the possible age thing you mentioned - I don't recall the specifics of how old Roland should be. In my mind, at least, his appearance is a man in his earliy forties (albeit weathered by hardship).

Oh, and can we recruit C3PO Anthony Daniels to do the voice of one of the robots, maybe Andy or Stuttering Bill... OK now I'm getting carried away :)

I actually like the C3PO idea, on that thought we're going to need a Train voice to.

Tell you what, we should get Mark Hamil in here somewhere. They guys done voice acting for a while, but common, he needs an actual on stage acting role again.

You know who they say Abrams wanted as Roland before the project fell apart? Christian Bale. One could do worse. I'm not a huge fan of some of the other more common suggestions: Viggo Mortensen feels like an easy choice. There's nothing to challenge the audience in that, and he lacks world-weariness. Eastwood is definitely too old, and I'm not someone who believes that Roland necessarily needs to be a young man. I like the suggestion of Ed Harris an awful lot. My choice? Russell Crowe. He's exactly the right age, he's a brilliant, brilliant actor who can do pretty much anything, and he just looks like Roland to me ( ... )

I've seen many, but not all Stephen King movies, since I hadn't actually seen the Salems Lot movie I didn't even think about James Cromwell. Considering I actually like James Cromwell, he's had the part before, and I let actors keep their roles form previous movies ( ... )
