I understand that was the intended theme, however it loses impact when I know in Avengers Two he is going to suit up and go fight, so it was a false however grandiose gesture. It was good that he learned how to handle himself without the suit and proved something to himself, but blowing up the suits was grand theater he could only afford because he was rich.
