I *think* this would be ok for a GCC, but I still have two questions and a warning before I can be 100% sure.

* Are the wires powder coated or plastic coated? (I think powder coated from the reviews, but no one uses that phrase exactly, they just keep saying "wrought iron" which tells the core of the wires, not the exterior.)
* How strong are the welds? (Based on the size of GCCs, I expect that any strength would be ok, but I am not certain.)
* Warning: The side food bowl doors are guillotine-style. Jack will be able to open them easily, so you'll need a way to lock them closed. I personally sandwich the EFC breeder doors closed between two large washers, a screw, and a wingnut (for easy opening again to put in toys and perches). The front doors look like a hook and rod style that should be secure for a GCC.

Hi thanks I am not sure of either of those so i'll have to look into it. Jack doesnt chew on his cage now but anythings possible.

He can escape his cage now and will probably be able to escape all the doors on this as well lol. I have biners(?) the hanging parts from his toys on the doors since he cant unscrew them.

Yeah, "biner" is short for carabiner, like the device used in rock climbing gear ( ... )

EFC- Solid Metal with powdercoating
Prevue cage- Plastic coated metal probably zinc underneath the coating.
The coating on the HQ cage (EFC) is much more durable and will last you a lot longer, if you bird chews the coating off the prevue one you are in trouble.
Prevue cage is definitely escapable for a little conure, the EFC is less so just make sure you zip tie the two side "breeder doors". The latch on the version I have is too heavy for my conures to lift.

i bought a cage from them for our nanday and love it. sadly, he died, but the cage is powder coated, nicely welded, and those doors are a bitch to open for human hands as if it is like the open top cage that is similar to the one we got for $74, they latch tightly and are really hard to open, even for agile adult fingers. we have yet to move sebastian's old cage- i am still in a bit of denial here. it was/is a great cage for the price, and hopefully another bird will fill it soon.

How did the front doors open on yours? I think from the picture that these front doors have two loops coming from the cage body that stick through each door, and then a separate vertical stick that goes through the loops and holds the doors closed. The place I board Kappa has cages with doors of that style, and it strikes me like they'd be irritating for frequent daily use, but they'd be pretty secure against birds.

yep- that's how they open and we had no issue with it. it made it very bird safe, and to be honest, the way that the whole thing is put together, the door stays closed well on it's own as the top bit is 3 loops and they are closely placed and almost pinch shut, so once the long metal bit is in, or out, the door is fairly secure. we love the cage and were looking at another for our grey, but got a great deal on a cage for her at an animal expo- a $550 cage(on sale) for $150 as it was an older model and it has a great play top that she loves. my only complaint about it is that it has a small door, but the whole top comes off so i can put toys on that and then put the top back on.
