I used to volunteer at the zoo, too, and yeah, peacocks there have free reign, too. And the parrots that were saved from abusive homes and can't fly do too.
The others, the parrots used for conservation of the species and that can fly are kept in the habitats.
There was a huge storm last night, so my guess is one of the nettings got destroyed with the wind (or one of the trees inside the habitat fell and broke the netting) and they escaped.
Well, this working with the assumption that they are indeed from the zoo. But at least 5 big parrots, all from the same species and full-flighted... Chances are they escaped from the neighbouring zoo and not from a house in the neighbourhood.

they might have more infor if reported lost. Also call the police. Parrots that were stolen that the peaple did not know how to keep let them lose or they got loose. This might have happened

I won't contact parrot 911, because like I said in my post, I'm in Lisbon, as in Portugal.
But, yeah, I got back home a little before 11am and the staff at the zoo usually arrives around 9 am and the parrots weren't there any longer. So my guess is the care takers managed to get them.
