She rolled her eyes over to him, and it took a moment for her to connect voice to face, and then those to memory. That phenomenon where you run into someone far outside of the setting that you are used to seeing them in, and there is that uncertain moment where your brain dumbly gropes to place all the relevant pieces.
When it did click into place a moment later, she just laughed despite herself-- wry, in that 'it figures' kind of way, but not unfriendly.
Ahh, well. It would have been such an inconvenience if she'd seemed afraid, or looked unwelcome; sultry eyes gave him an opportunity though, a way to get his foot in the door. Faye Valentine was a perfect distraction.
"Isn't it?" The bartender slid a glass in front of him, beer the same pale gold of his eyes, foam dribbling over the rim of the cup a little bit. "What's a beautiful girl like you doing drinking all alone?"
Afraid, no. She was rarely that. Though, she might have been unwelcome, or at least avoidant, if it hadn't been for the couple of drinks she was already floating in. It helped to wear down some of her sharper edges.
