nineteenth labyrinth

[In the middle of ballroom, Felix is slumped into a chair, recovering from a rather large expenditure of magic. The symbols he'd drawn on the floor are no longer present, the only evidence being a nub of chalk near his foot. Also arranged around the room, placed strategically around the entrances, are white crystals, seemingly mundane in nature if not slightly out of place.

He reaches down for his journal with a sigh, his breaths still a little heavy but even]

To all castle residents - I would like to announce to all of you looking for a place of refuge at this time, that we have completed a series of wards on the ballroom. The spells in place will hopefully prevent anyone of evil intentions entering - perhaps even trapping them. There is also a barrier in place that should prevent spellcasting through it, though it will of course still function on either side. Additionally there is a ward to hedge out mental compulsions, as well as any spirits or creatures of an unliving nature.

If you feel unsafe at any time, please feel free to take advantage of this space. In case of an emergency, please contact my associate Paige, who has offered to bring you here as quickly as possible.

[Away from kids]

For any of you watching out for the children, I hope you'll consider taking advantage of these precautions. In the very least, the more eyes are on the children, the more likely it is that we can catch this thing in the act...though I can't say I relish the idea...

[Chimera]

By the sound of things, there is a few of you engaged in research already. For the rest of you, get on it now. If there is any magical explanation or solution to this problem, it will likely be up to us to find it. Anything you find, or any ideas you have, filter them to me.
