Issue: #33
Cover artist: Unknown
Reason it rocks: This is the cover that stands out to me the most when I come across talk of Talebones. It's a mesh of colors and textures, discernible objects and things unknown. It doesn't really come together as any great thing, but the uncertainty of what I'm looking at has yet to take leave of my brainspace.

Cover artist: Unknown
Reason it rocks: There's a ton of small details in this piece that I love. What's happening with the dude's chest? Are those goggles or his eyes? Two moons? The only thing is that there's too much text and it gets kind of lost in all the glory.

Cover artist: Newel Anderson
Reason it rocks: The fact that the main figure is screaming his throat raw with the headliners of the issue is enough for me.

Reason it rocks: Simple, metaphoric artwork. To contract, there's the cartoony people. Love the bold colors outlining the keyhole, too.

Reason it rocks: Creepy monster...check. Giant, unblinking eye...check. Nightmares tonight...check.

Name: Beneath Ceaseless Skies
Issue: #0
Cover artist: Mats Minnhagen
Reason it rocks: Being a fairly new webzine, BCS is one of the few online markets that also has cover art. Alas, while this is a kickass piece of epic fantasy artwork, it's being placed high on the list in that BCS doesn't do anything with the cover art. No title or issue or names slapped on it, and thus the zine is missing out on the chance to really solidify their issues.

Cover artist: Unknown
Reason it rocks: I'm always of the mindset that less is more. Here, we have a typical looking astronaut armed with a gun on some sort of alien structure. Three orbs in the background tell us we're not in Las Vegas. Yet the wash of blue sky makes me wonder...

Cover artist: Unknown
Reason it rocks: Such a change of heart for Analog! Look, not spaceship or planet in sight! No furry critters either, which is a relief. We've got a desert-like setting, with some structure in the background. But of course, the center of attention is the woman. Her outfit is silly, but I love the contrast she brings to all the red.

Cover artist: Unknown
Reason it rocks: Reminds me so much of Gollum, but for once a troll doesn't come as cartoonish or ghastly. The point-of-view is interesting, too, in that we can clearly see he's worried and on the run, and that in the top corner, at the bottom of the well, a female troll looks on. To sum it up, it's a gorgeous painting.
