Not that such attention was a bad thing, per se. But it wasn't just simple attention. Sindre knew that look, knew what it meant when Berwald hung back, said nothing, and just watched.
"Spit it out," he called over. "Whatever it is you're having trouble saying."

"Was just wondering if... uh, which room ya wanted...? Not that I mind sharing! But. Um." He fell quiet, face crumpled slightly in exasperation at himself, and gave Sindre a questioning look.

He looked toward Berwald for the first time since they'd started on this particular task.
"But just because I'll have a separate room doesn't mean we have to sleep alone."

"Yeah, that's what I thought too," he replied. "I mean, that sounds good."
He picked up another book, giving himself something else to focus his gaze on and to gather himself. They standing close enough to each other that it wasn't very awkward to reach out and lay his hand on Sindre's arm, for no reason but that he could, before he looked up from sightlessly scanning the spine of the book.
"I s'pose everyone needs a place to sulk, huh?" he joked. "I'm calling th' basement m'self."
