Apping Billy Kaplan to sirenspull tomorrow! (Yeah I decided to take him to SP instead of betenoire_rp. I was feeling too unconfident about apping there.) What did you think of Cold Mountain? I read it in high school, and I remember being INSANELY FRUSTRATED by the ending. It was beautifully written and all, but I mean, you know that I can't stand movies that lack closure; books that do that sort of thing, intentionally... Guh. I wanted that week of my life back.

P.S. That Le Guin book sounds fascinating. Let me know how you like it when you're done!

It's REALLY good. The essays are fascinating and giving me a lot of insight into writing and other topics. I'd highly recommend it.

I thought it was gorgeous but the ending also frustrated me very much, because I could see it coming a mile away, like, "yeah, Inman's totally going to die. Totally. And I really really want it to break the mold, but it's not going to." And of course it didn't. /sigh

However I enjoyed the rest of the book enough to still consider it worth reading. I mean it was just so beautifully written, every word of it.
