[He notices. Stringpluck.]

Would you like to argue it?

I know it can be argued but you're going to think me childish.

[He stares back at her. There's no trace of any kind of smile; not today.]

You are a child. It is only natural that you be childish.

Just because it's temporary doesn't make it hurt any less, Ciel.

I'm sorry.

I hated her.

[It sounds more thoughtful than anything.]

[Rei doesn't believe that for a second. But for once, she doesn't press the subject, and instead chooses to follow down the obvious path of thought.]

A lot of people did, in this place, I think.

[Oddly enough, he's telling the truth. He's always hated Rhode -- that's partially why this is hitting him so hard, knowing it wasn't all hate. Knowing that he'll actually miss her.]

But what if one doesn't die? How much remains then? [Just, you know, asking.]

Are disappearances from this place not more final than death?

That seems to be true, so why shouldn't we do the most we can to make the best of this odd place? It seems preferable to doing nothing.

Even if you expect such things to happen, the shock of such a moment often overrules logic and reason.

Clearly; willpower will change the laws of reality.

I've seen it happen before.

[But he just shakes his head, as if even though he knows it's possible, he thinks it's impossible.]

Besides, isn't that what the animus do? Change the laws of reality with willpower.

Then if one wishes to change things, they should seek the power of the Animus.
