I went to Dragon*Con two years ago and I won't ever forget the experience, and I definitely want to go again. But of course, there's the money issue. Those things are expensive.
Also, SDCC is one of those things where I want to experience just once in my lifetime.
Wish I was going to D*C, but just don't have the time off this year!
Definitely going to Shore Leave and already hit FarPoint which was good. I'm almost more excited about seeing the people I go with than the famous people, but Shore Leave is heavy on Warehouse 13 this year so that makes me happy/sad with the show ending.
Poke me if you go to Baltimore ComicCon though. Just for curiousity sake if nothing else.
I'm feeling you. I only go to one smaller Con, and then usually Dragon-Con. I'm skipping DCon as well this year for a number of issues, but not feeling too bad about it because there's only one celeb going this year (so far) that I'd want to see (Adrien Paul!!!!). The smaller con I go to is in Boston, and it's generally all fan stuff, but it's cool because I get to know the panelists by the end of Con, and it feels more like a buddy meet-up than a convention.
You media-con people and your big celebrity cons ::grin::
If you ever want a medium-size con with games nearly 20 hours and lots of science fiction & fantasy authors to enjoy & learn about for your patrons, try Balticon next May! It's a medium-size, delightful con with friendly people, some movie/TV panels and costumers as well as plenty of other stuff, and multiple dances.
I go to PAX too! That's more about games! ...though I do look for celebs while I'm there LOL. Hadn't heard of Balticon though, but since I don't really read a lot of SF/F the authors have to be pretty big for me to even recognize their names (unless I've shelved them as a Page). But still might be fun! How pricey is it?
My favourite Toronto con ended last year but we've got our own big and crazy one coming up at the end of August that I'll be at.
I've never done SDCC or Dragon*Con - both are ones I'd like to do sometime. The travel makes them much more expensive and autographs etc are still far more expensive at American conventions.
Amy Acker has done the con circuit a bit and seems to have fun at them. I'd bet you'll get to see her in the future :)
SDCC is definitely bucketlist worthy, but it is so expensive! I was lucky that one of the members of my Star Wars club goes every year so he was my Obi-Wan for the weekend, helping me make sure I knew how to get into panels etc. I was on my own most of the time, but, you're really never alone at a Con, are you? :)
I love that about cons, you make friends everywhere along the way :)
Getting there would be the most expensive for me. Ideally whenever I get to go I'll find a way to split hotels and the ticket in isn't much more than our crazy busy one here in August so I'm okay with that.
