I have a writing assignment I'm working on, like a thing I will actually get paid for doing. It's only 800 words but I have now thought TOO hard about it and need to just scrap everything and start over and get my head in a better spot. My usual go-to when I'm stuck with anything is to write down EVERYTHING I CAN because that's somehow like a re-set for my brain? Like, when I have trouble sleeping, I make a list of everyyyyyyyyyyyything, and that gives my brain permission to let it all go and fall asleep. Same for when I'm feeling overwhelmed. IDK if it would help you in this instance, but it sounds like you're stuck and it might be worth a try!

Get some ideas down on the page/screen. Use bullet points or the Outline function. Organise the order you want them in.

Then try writing each point three different ways, using different sentence-structures and vocabulary each time. Pick the versions that you feel 'sound' most like your own voice. Ask yourself why that is.

Try analysing a bit of the style you used to get the gig. What tone? What imaginary audience? What sentence structures?

Not a pro writer, but I taught English for over three decades.

In essence, you know you can write, so play around with the variables rather than trying to get a finished piece right off.

Get some ideas down on paper - if they're tangible, they're less likely to get tangled in your own head with other thoughts.
