TL;DR - go to Florida in February

Feb 07, 2015 16:59

I have memories of visiting Universal Studios when I was a kid and having lots of fun with my family, then visiting again as an adult and having a good time. But also being hot. And being crowded by people. And waiting in long lines. These trips all occurred during spring/summer ( Read more... )

yes yes with yours my figures do agree!

(have I mentioned how happy I am to have you on my flist?)

And, yes, February seems to be the time to go! Don't waste your money on a "express pass" cuz you won't need it! And Cabana Bay may be a "family friendly" resort but at that time of year there were not very many kids around so noise was not an issue. They have a free shuttle bus to the park and are about $100 less than the other Universal Resort hotels (because the others have a boat or somesuch...anyway, save that money for butterbeer)

would have replied sooner but this reminded me I needed to add the Pirates dvd to my Amazon wishlist because it is no longer streaming on Netflix!

I'm so jealous! It all sounds like so much fun!! I went to Universal Studios for one day back in 1999. I'm sure a lot has changed! We did see the Twister attraction, and I remember being so scared that the tornado was actually going to get me, lol. I also remember the ET ride! I would love to see the Harry Potter park. I need to go again!

Was the Back to the Future ride still there in 99? I think a LOT of stuff has changed since then so you must go back soon! ;-)

Woooo that sounds like such a great time! Another wonderful time to go is the week before Halloween. All the kids are in school, and you get to enjoy all of the Halloween decorations without dealing with the actual holiday crowds.

ooooh I will have to make a note of this! I really want to go back with Tim and Sylvia, I think they would both like it. I'm hoping this will make Sylvia want to read the Harry Potter books. She's a big reader, but she tends to do more realistic fiction.

That sounds like such an awesome time. It kind of makes me excited about the potential prospect of going there for my honeymoon. It would be end of March/early April, but hopefully it wouldn't be a lot more crowded than it is in February. Mike keeps complaining about them getting rid of the "Back to the Future" ride, but I think he would get a kick out of some of the other rides.

I loved the Back to the Future ride when I was a kid BUT now it would be soooooo dated. The Simpsons Ride is in it's spot and it is AMAZING and I love it. I think March/April should be fine as long as you avoid Easter/Spring break. I think the first couple weeks of March are the last of the "down time". You can google around and find all kinds of websites that tell you the best times to go, but if I remember correctly, when I was thinking about going for my birthday a few years ago (March 4) it was on the cusp of the end of the slow season.
