Don't always find Giles easy to write, but this came easier when I realised it was really about Passions and not Lie To Me.

This is really gorgeous and poetic - and a very unexpected perspective from you.

Bonus points for having Buffy as a character (my favorite) and touching on the fascinating complexity of her relationship to Giles. This fic is about Jenny's funeral but it reminds me also of the Gift three years later - in fact, this entire fic evokes the Gift and Buffy's unseen (by us) funeral.

More, please?

If I'd started watching the show from the early days; Giles would've been the only one I fancied.

Somehow, that seems to make him much harder to write for me; certainly I don't read any fics that involve him being involved with any of the kids, even Oz.

It's pleasing to show the affection that he had for them, and vice-versa.

Involved - oh you mean shipper wise? I must be one of the few people in fandom who doesn't automatically think in those terms, sorry.

This is lovely; I like to think that Buffy's grabbing his hand for his sake rather than her own - which adds another layer, Giles telling himself he's the responsible adult to Buffy's child to keep from breaking.

I did start out thinking of Lie To Me, but the scene didn't feel right in my head; then I cottoned on to the fact that she was comforting him.

Worked out pretty well from there on in.
