Eagles on the Wind / Gentle as a Desert Spring / The First Time ~ (un)dress prompt

Jan 21, 2014 10:29

This is a trio of Tara drabbles; set in reverse order of occurrence. They are all about first times; Faith's first time tasting Tara's magic; Willow's first time with a woman; Tara's first time with her consent. (mods; need a couple of new tags I think faith/tara and tara/oc maybe)

Title: Eagles on the Wind
Wedding night surpise... )

btvs4, btvs3, faith, tara/willow, tara, btvs

I'm not much of a Tara fan. I don't hate her or anything, but I just never really clicked with her. She was sweet with Willow, but she's the only one I can see her with. But what I'm really writing to say is that your tone in these drabbles is fantastic! So full of love and emotion, almost poetical, wonderful turn of phrases such as the eagles. In short, great job!!

Thank you very much,

for a very long time I could only see Tara with Willow; then I began to see that that was the very worst option for her in the circumstances of S6, and after. It was only when I realised that she went back to someone who'd abused her that I began to see beyond the sweet image I had of Tara. I looked around and, by accident, saw someone who'd been hurt in many of the same ways as she had but had, apparently, dealt with it in a very different way.

All three are about the fluidity of identity, particularly self-identity, and I wanted to write them in reverse to get to one reason why Tara might have taken a different path. She was given a gift of love, and wanted to return that to the world.

I've been told I'm very poetical by a few people; wish I could write some actual poems sometimes :-)

Ray.

It is a true shame that never handled the Willow abusing Tara problem better. I can see Tara forgiving her and giving her another chance, but I do wish the storylines could have progressed enough before her death that we could have seen Willow actually change before she lost her. Of course, that would have made the death not quite so dramatic, so that may be part of the reason why the writers chose not to tackle it better ( ... )
