These are all spectacular... in a horribly miserable way, of course. I adore 15, being the Violet geek that I am. The font color is particularly beautiful. Almost shimmery. Gorgeous.
Yes, once again I'm posting what is almost certainly a stupid question to your journal.
(Are you surprised? No? I thought not).
Does the fact that these are all, like, photos of real people mean that they've made (or are making) a Lemony Snicket film? If so, this is the first I've heard of it. Is it just the first book, or some combination of several? Or are their heds all just pasted on? (YAY).
I've read the first one, and honestly, I didn't like it much. I found it a bit tedious (which here means that I got tired of reading definitions of all the big words).
Still . . . if there's a film, I just might go see it. I'm sure my nephew (aged 14 as of two days ago, and also a big HP fan) will be exited. He loves LS. I will point him in the direction of this entry, come to think of it.
Yes, they are indeed. I hadn't heard of it myself until recently, and I am fairly skeptical of the ability of the silver screen to capture the spririt of the books, which is IMO intensely literary. The film - I suspect the first of several, if it succeeds - covers the first three books.
The idea of a character with his hed pastede on, YAY! is a pretty Snicketish one, as anyone familiar with Sir in the fourth book will know. It's no spoiler too, I think, to say that Book 10 contains two characters known only as the Man with a Beard but No Hair, and the Woman with Hair but No Beard.
Actually, the series really get going around, I think, the third book. When I started reading the first one for the first time, I abandoned it for pretty much the same reasons as you.
I found it really worth it to keep reading. The definitions stop being tedious and start being very amusing, and you can *see* the books become more and more complex, and I find it really cool, because it's so subtle.
Plus, there's this uge mystery you only start to be aware of a few books in.
Hmnh. Well, on your recommendation, I think I would be willing to give them another try. I wonder how long the wait list is at the library. Or maybe my nephew has them for me to borrow.

I'm also impressed by "The Reptile Room" icon, though I am not taking.
