Attempted rapist refuses to resign, claims he isn't gay

For a rapist, it'd be the power that's the attractive part, and the attractiveness of their victim a distant second.

I agree if he was trying to get someone in his room to rape. But didn't he "just" keep the guy from leaving? Which is scary and kidnapping and bad but sounds to me like panic and not attempted rape. In which case, I think he's just so compartmentalized that his closet has closets.

Despite the nature of these events, Hinkle claims he is not gay and can’t explain why he set up the meeting.

Not that I had any doubt that this guy was an absolute asshole, but this is textbook "To Catch A Predator" language.

I read this interview with Hinkle yesterday and it was really sad. You can pick up all the dissidence going on in his head. He's been so conditioned to believe same-sex attraction is evil that it can't be an option...so there's no way to explain what he was doing or why. He's verging on magical thinking!

I'm fairly sure Hinkle did not plan to pay Gibson $80 to sit and talk sports.

He may not even know what he wants. The interviews are so confusing. This is a troubled man.

Refusal to let Gibson leave soulds like panic to me. As in nobody leaves until I can decide what to do and how to get myself out of this and I can't get out of this. It would still be kidnapping, technically.

a 'business meeting', perhaps?

but in all seriousness, i don't think this guy has dug his hole deeper yet.
