Ahh I was hoping someone would post an article about this because it made me so mad, and I need to vent somewhere this clown's minions won't see it as a win. There are so many infuriating things about this bizarro world messaging where the Democrats are painted as the bigots, but I think the most infuriating of all is exactly that it's "about convincing white folks he's not racist". Because, for real, if there are any white folks out there who previously thought he was racist and then heard this nonsense and suddenly changed their minds then I fucking weep for America. This is some taco bowl grade trolling. It's ugly and should have no place in modern politics.

Talking Points Memo had an interesting article about the strategy behind modern Republican "outreach" to the POC vote.

It's not about actually reaching out to POC, but signalling to white voters that the candidate doing the outreach is not a racist (which may be true or not): http://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/they-can-t-stay-in-character

The thing is that when the top of your ticket is actually supported by white nationalists and the alt-right a lot the racist subpopulation in the Republican party are no longer disguising the fact that the outreach is in fact aimed at white voters and not POCs.
