Is that a Google translation? It's a bit bumpy in parts, and there are some untranslated expressions left too. I have to go out right now, but I can see about polishing it up a bit when I get back home tonight if you like - although I suspect they'll probably put it up on the English-language Spiegel online anyway once they've translated and edited it.

Yes it is, my German is rudimentary at best. Thanks for the offer, you can if you want but I think as soon as it's up on the English site I'll edit the post anyway.I didn't even know they had an English version of the site, I've just been using google translate all this time.

Yes, they do put at least the more important/interesting articles on the international site, including many of those to do with the spying scandal. And as this one features Carter, I'd be surprised if they didn't post it. ;-)
