Shall I start us off? (Like I haven't expressed my love for this movie enough times. xD)
Loved: The Acting - amazing performances by just about everyone. Chris Hemsworth was absolutely amazing as Thor (the nice but arrogant warrior thing was spot-on) and Tom Hiddleston's interpretation Loki was someone subtle and sly and broken so very perfectly.
The Cast - Though I think a different actress from Natalie Portman would have been better (she seemed too... famous, standing beside the rel. unknown Chris Hemsworth), everyone else was amazing. Perfect cast with special mention to Heimdall, Thor, Loki, Sif...
The CGI - Talk about scenery porn, the opening shots of Asgard (and almost all consequent ones) absolutely took my breath away. The bifrost and frost-giant battles were all beautifully done. And the credits scene, soaring through space in 3D? <3
Could Have Been Better:- Romance subplot seemed tacked-on, incredibly brief development over a very short time period
( ... )
x'D Oh God, that srs bsns comment, and then this fansqueeing. I am only amused because I did the exact same thing after having seen the movie.
"Well, it had some problems with pacing, didn't like the romance subplot... BUT OMG WHO CARES HAWKEYE AND ALL THE REFERENCES AND I CAN'T BELIEVE THESE MOVIES ARE HAPPENING asdfghjklö--"
I wanted to dance out of the cinema auditorium. :3
D= I might recommend unconventional means but they're not nearly as awesome as the movie theatre. Why is the release date in Japan so late? Talk about unfair... :(
Honestly, in all but a handful of the biggest releases, Japan's release dates are MONTHS behind, usually. Sometimes it's so they can have a dub/sub simultaneous release, but the other times, I have no bloody idea. As for less-conventional means, I'll wait. Looks better on the big screen. ;)
x) You can always comfort yourself with the knowledge that you're IN JAPAN, an awesome country of amazingness the rest of us can only dream of living in.
Though it's not cool they release western movies so late. )= Would you watch them dubbed? xD I think it'd be amazing.
I have decided that the next movie should feature the Enchantress to further develop Thor and Jane's relationship and the Midgard Serpent in order to have a truely epic battle.
ooooh, I never really thought about it that way, but now that you've pointed it out, the whole purpose of Thor's rapid redemption did seem like a giant set-up for the Avengers. Here's to hoping the second movie would be a lot better. x)
I'm glad you agree with me on the character development thing, the thing with the movie is that a lot of the backstory and even characterisation were slightly modified to suit the medium. I didn't feel like it was fair to judge the characters the same way I would judge the ones from the comic who had 30+ years of history and retcons. I treated the entire thing like an AU but didn't get nearly as much background as I'd have liked. xD
I just wish it was longer, so there'd have been more time for character development as a whole. =(
*raises hand* So I'm new to this comm, and I loved the movie. So much that I can't really form coherent thoughts about it yet. But they will come. I hope. :D
