No pun intended, but that's depressing.

this is interesting.

i'm on effexor, and i have no intentions of having a child any time soon, but i've been curious about the effects.

the whole issue is very catch-22.

i'm hoping this leads to further research and a safer method can be used to help depressed and anxious women through pregnancy.

Maybe you can check for me, but when I was on effexor, doesn't it warn to not take while pregnant?

I'll have to check. If that's the case, it sucks though. It's the only antidepressant that has worked for me, and it's probably the case for others too.

This has me worried, considering I'll probably have to be on meds my whole life, and I want to have children someday. :/

I can't shake this nasty feeling that this, and subsequent findings, will/can be used to ... mmm, don't know what phrase to use. To shame, manipulate, and control ~those women with mental problems~, and a rise of BOOTSTRAPS OR YOU'LL KILL TEH BAYYYBEEEE!

Basically, a combination of the rabid pro-liars and the bootstraps assholes.

Ew.

Sadly, this already happens. Women have had their kids taken away from them because of mental illness or physical disabilities.

Interesting. I'm on a brand of venlafaxine right now, and, while I don't plan on starting a family soon, I know I will someday. Hopefully they can take these findings into consideration and come up with a solution/less harmful medication for women with depression or anxiety disorders.
