My icon!! :')

I will be uploading it tomorrow morning so there'll be a link awaiting you when you wake up :D

And I'm glad you liked the review, I worry that I go off on weird tangents and people will be like 'WTF?? Girl is crazy!'

Awesomesauce!! Do you need a download link or will you be buying? (I would encourage you to buy if possible so that the BBC know that people buy the DVDs! Then they'll make more!)

I'll ask my friends in the UK so I'll ask them to get me a copy before they head back here. I would order it online but unfortunately the customs here are like the unofficial censor board or something. If anything looks different to them, they'll just confiscate it, :-/.

okay, first...you learning how to embedding gifs in comments is one of the best things EVER!!!! (Taylor is actually superduper CUTE, imo)

and second...you know me, there's no way I can go to bed early. I can stay up all night for it, tho.

and third...I've decided to read you review. I can't wait. Especially after seeing some of the comments. ♥ I think it'll improve the movie, not spoil it. :) ♥

Haha, I know! And Kristen's obsession with The Climb will never not be adorable :)
I kind of agree about Taylor. He's certainly more attractive than Robward though!

Oh, let me know what you think once you read the review. I haven't spoiled the end, just some of the plot points. Mostly I just spaz about Maxine Peake and how fantastically amazing she is. ♥

(Damn, I forgot to add in the post that the film was made in 18 days!! Which is really short and cheap for the BBC, so the quality of the final product is even better when you think of it like that :D)

Ah, I looked for a torrent earlier this week but couldn't find one. A friend gave me a pretty HQ download though so I've got that, plus the DVD :)

I wouldn't say the character of Mariana was lacking, exactly... just that I liked her less and less as the film went on. I agree, more context would have been nice but the time that they were together, especially at the beginning, there was a real sense of togetherness (for want of a better word). And after all, we don't always fall for the people worthy of our affection.

Thank you so much for providing a way to watch this! I wasn't able to watch it until last night and then re-watched today. It's a very well-done film and important in that it shows that lesbian women aren't really all that much different today than they were in Anne's time. I want to read the books you've recced.

I don't have a lot to add to your review. This story is much like my own and doesn't seem all that unique to me, until I realize that the mainstream audience doesn't realize that these are stories that have never been shared or seen.

While this statement may seem that I didn't like the movie, that's not true. I haven't been able to think of anything else all day. So maybe I have more processing to do before I can truly tell you how I feel about it.

Again, I thank you so much for giving me a way to see it. Cheers!

No problem! I'm so happy you enjoyed it and I'm glad you got a chance to watch it.
I agree with you - it's not an unusual story by any means, but the fact that it is a lesbian story from the early 19th century really sets it apart and, yeah, shows people that lesbians aren't that different and have always been around.

If you do any more processing and think of anything else to say, I'd love to hear it ♥
