I haven't been this shocked at someone coming out in a long time. Looks like Chastity Bono is a member of the trans family, and intends to have FTM surgery. Rock on.

Ok, I totally cried out "holy shit!" when I read the article. :D She was such a famous lesbian! I can only hope that he is as active in the trans community.

I think it sucks that his mom wasn't more supportive when he first came out of the closet. That was a while back, and I'm curious to see how Cher responds to his latest news.

I went to a chiropractor several years ago that had the operation done. I didn't realize he was transgender until I was taking a sex class at JC to fulfill my requirements, and the professor mentioned his transgender friend. It was funny because as the professor was talking about his friend I was putting two and two together, raised my hand, and asked, "Is your friend a practicing chiropractor?". :)

For the most part, FTMs do tend to blend into the mainstream a lot easier than MTFs. It's one reason why FTM visibility is so low. Hormones do most of the work. Surgery isn't mandatory.
