He got pulled out officially on Friday. The good news is they gave him the clearance to take the DLPT. He's scheduled to take it on the 23 and 24 of August. Soon, huh? I hope he does well on it. Everyone he speaks to who already took it says that he should do just fine, and I hope they're right. I'm putting my faith in their faith at this point. ( Read more... )

Hey, Jess. How have you been? I'll find out more when I can read your journal, but yeah... the short version will do for now. :)

Thanks for your support. I still feel pretty blah about my writing today. I just wanted to write something down about how my week has been going for the sake of recording my life.

Ann,

First off, good luck to Warren. He deserves to do well. This could be a blessing in disguise. :)

Did you get a lot done after you posted this? I know you were talking about getting lots done, and you had done 4 so far. :)

I'm sure that you're going to be nervous a lot at first in France, speaking the language and adopting the new culture. Don't expect to be completely at ease, and I think you'll be okay. There is going to be an adjustment period, and it's got to be stressful that you are relying on your French education to get you through communication during the whole month. You'll mesh right in fairly quickly I'm sure. You're intelligent, you'll have absolutely NO problems. :) I can't wait to hear all about it Ann, you better give me details!!

I'm glad that counseling is going well. I loved homework when I went, I thought it helped me gain a lot of ground inbetween sessions, and it seems like you feel the same way. At least it seems that way. ;)

I'll talk to you soon. *hugs*

First of all, you'll be FINE when it comes to speaking French, trust me. Once you're in a situation where you have no choice but to speak it, it'll flow. The first day or two will be a little rocky, but if you can overcome your perfectionism :), you'll be fine. I also found that studying written French helped me very little with my oral skills. I prepared for my oral exam in French by writing hundreds of possible questions and answers, almost like a phrasebook. Since I wrote them myself, though, I remembered them very well. You might want to try that.

I'm glad to hear you started counseling, and that you FINALLY found someone who's given you a good impression of her abilities. Good luck with that.
