Rebuild

May 28, 2011 20:55

I think I am just going to rebuild Canterbury Cove. Abrianna disappearing is only one sign that there is something wrong with the neighborhood. The other day when I was playing Bennett's house, a woman came over to his house and WOULD NOT leave and I didn't have any options to make her leave either. The only options for interacting were tip, talk, ( Read more... )

Ugg these are no fun at all. I was coming to post on your last thread, but engram said what I was thinking. I'm sure there are other people who know better than I do, as I still haven't worked out how to set genetics is simPE. But the main things I did was write down all the main things about my sims and extract them all. I think I extracted something like 100 sims, but the writing down of stats, interests etc was far more work than the extracting. I also used the stay all shrub at each house. You must use a sim to click on the bush and choose "Things stay at moveout" Then I moved the sims out and saved the house to the bin. It doesn't save workbench made things. I then placed the houses in a new hood, cloned and placed my sims, setting some things in simPE and a few things on the sim blender and bat box such as relationships, friendships, badges, college diplomas, witches etc.

I'm not really looking forward to it, but I know that I need to do it.
I will try googling it a bit to see if I can find anything. I don't know when I am going to do it. Probably once school is out. I have the stay all shrub already, but I don't have the bat box or the sim blender. Would you suggest that I get them? And if so, where exactly do I get them?
Also, thank you for your help.

Try the hood cloner or copier or whatever it's called on MTS. If memory serves me right it copies the hood layout and houses to a new hood but you need to place the sims again. Far less work than having to rebuild. OR check pixel_trade, they have a post/tutorial on there on putting houses in any hood into the lots and houses bin without having to move out sims. As joandsarah said, extracting and then cloning and then housing them all will most likely be the most work as there are tools and methods out there to help you remake the physical hood, but putting back the sims (ie. the soul of the hood) will take far longer.

Thank you. If I can find that hood copier it will make things much easier and then I can even have it decorated the same and what not.
All I need to do now is figure out how to do some of the more in depth stuff for the sims themselves like recessive genes and whatnot.
Thanks again for your help. :) I really know nothing about this stuff.

Would you happen to have a link for the hood copier? I cannot find it.

Hood replacer: http://www.modthesims.info/d/279992

From the looks of it it only copies the terrain, road and hood deco and not the houses. You will most likely need to copy the houses. Try the tutorial on pixel_trade because that would be easier that putting a stay things shrub on every lot and moving sims out.

That really sucks.

I would suggest getting the Sim Manipulator so that you can set their skills/badges/jobs/etc.
http://simmanipulator.forumotion.com/t7-download-the-sim-manipulator

I also suggest the Multi-Painting, so you can set their ages. It does other stuff too.

I wish you the best of luck on rebuilding your 'hood.

Urgh, that's horrible :( I agree with joandsarah that copying down the details of all the sims will take the longest to do, especially if you want to copy down stuff like their LTA levels and ensure their recessives are all set up.

I've not got any other advice about the houses (I too used the stay-things shrub and packaged the empty houses), but I would suggest this: once you've got the houses and community lots put back in, make a back-up copy of your sim-free 'hood. If you have to rebuild again, at least you've got a 'hood with a good number of the households and won't have to worry so much about rebuilding, especially if you're the type to do a lot of landscaping/decorating in the 'hood.

When rebuilding, I use the Sim Blender as it's a) supported and b) does a ton of stuff such as allowing to set relationship levels, relationship flags (crush/love/bff), reationship types, set skills (both points and toddler skills), create pregnancy...basically just read what it doesReally, if you want to know more details/get some help (I really don't ( ... )

Thank you! That is a great idea because then next time I will only have to copy the sims and maybe a few more lots. I will definitely do that.

The Sim Blender sounds like it will be really helpful. I will be sure to get it.

I would actually really appreciate that. I will come to you if I get stuck on anything. Thanks for all your help. :)

Glad I can be of help (even if it is for something as aggrivating as a rebuild). I can't guarantee that I know everything about a 'hood rebuild, but I will state my experience/what I did if you need any more help or advice :)
