My God, you two. And what an engagement ring it is.

Congratulations, Hasi darling.

It was his paternal grandmother's, and later his mother's.

Thank you! You'll come to the wedding, won't you? (June 21st. ...we want it to be soon, and six months isn't very long to plan, so I'm kind of doing everything in a great big rush all on my own.)

Also: thank you for the gifts. Poetry, puzzles, alcohol--you know us so well.

It's lovely, and lovelier for the tradition behind it.

I wouldn't miss it. You'll forgive me if I don't offer to help plan (you know me and weddings) -- unless you need someone to make sure the groomsmen are tastefully dressed or otherwise pester Henry into assisting, that I can manage.

And you're welcome. Thank you for the book -- it's funny, I've read a little Shakespeare but I think he wrote a few more plays in your world.

I am pretty damn pleased with it, I won't pretend.

Oh, no, I'm confident in my abilities. I may have to rope in a married female friend or two to lend me their opinions (or even a single one!), but Henry has basically abdicated all responsibility to me, which I enjoy.

Really? That's an odd little difference. Which ones have you read?

Thank you! I'm pretty excited, but I think that's standard.

That's the rumour I've heard.
