A pretty straightforward action story, with our heroes rushing to stop a horrible scheme by the bad guys. Grum and Skur are useful, especially since I've killed off so many of the best villains. I can't explain why I wanted to have Sulak fill in for Galvan in this story. Sulak just doesn't have much of a personality; he's a square-jawed, serious-minded super-hero brought into the Midnight War. I need to go back and make him vain and boastful, or hot-tempered or an ambitious schemer who wants to usurp the Androval throne. SOMEthing, anything. Galvan at least is a womanizer who had fallen hard for Demrak Jin and who has some surprising plans for raising their son.
It's not mentioned here, but one does wonder about the aftermath of John Burroughs Delver's murder. Timothy left no clues behind, he's good in that respect, and Delver's death probably remained a mystery. You also wonder if the land around the arena had a godawful stink with a hundred dead Trolls rotting just below the surface, but then this IS New Jersey swampland...
